In trying to grow a small business, I was always looking for tips on how to save money on advertising. You of course want to advertise, because otherwise how are you really going to attract substantial numbers of repeat and new customers for that point. But realistically speaking, things like Google ads can be expensive, and sometimes they don’t even do that great a job in the first place. You have to of course consider your website and all of that, make sure it’s attracting people. But advertising methods are big.
One thing that I found worked very well was direct mail lists. It sounds crazy at first. When I first heard about it, my first thought was spam mail, I hate spam mail, even when it’s something I might actually want, and I regard most companies who do it as scams. But I’m a bit overly paranoid to say the least. So to say the least, I’m unusual.
But this being said, direct mail lists work or they wouldn’t continue to use them. I mean I’ve seen companies who use no other method of advertisement but direct mail lists as it turns out, and yet they are some of the most successful companies in their field. It seems controversial in some ways. But it’s really up to you if you run your company reputably or not, no matter your methods of advertisement.
But in truth, direct mail lists are targeted if you go through the right companies. They provide you with an extremely powerful method of advertising, and they are completely worth it. I used direct mail lists for about 1 week before I saw my business basically double, which is ridiculous. I sent out a lot of emails, and I’m not sure what the success margin was as far as percentages. But even a small percentage when you get that wide a range of people is substantial.

Honestly speaking, the best candidates for liposuction are those who have a good habit of exercise and just have a couple trouble spots. However, most liposuction patients don’t fit into that category obviously. The problem is that your body is used to having a set number of fat cells that expand or contract according to various things. It doesn’t mean you will be skinnier at all. But when you take them out, well, that’s not a good thing so much. It could actually make it harder in diet and exercise and it may even create trouble spots that you never had before, even when you actually diet and exercise as you should. The reality is that as you age, you will naturally gain more weight. But you can still control it with diet and exercise. The simple truth is that you should avoid liposuction. If you are overweight, it is not the magical answer, and if you are a workout type with a couple trouble spots, it could create other trouble spots for you in the long term route of things. So before you really think about it, look into a study published in the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery which surveyed 209 patients, and they found that after 2 years, 81% didn’t lose any weight and 43% actually gained more weight. Look at the whole picture.

I’ve decided and researched the fact that water sports and swimming are actually some of the best ways to lose weight, gain muscle, and maintain the body you want instead of the body you have to deal with or feel like you have to deal with. I came to this conclusion after seeing multiple swimmers, who I think actually have greater advantages than dancers who are famous for their bodies interestingly enough, and after seeing all the guys on the water polo team who don’t necessarily do anything else in terms of exercise, because they’re too busy playing water polo in practice. Even when I played for fun, not even on a team, I could feel the burning and the sore muscles after, because I wasn’t used to that kind of workout. I mean despite the fact that water facilitates some physical therapy and so on, it actually provides a kind of extra resistance that bands and all of those tools just can’t match. If you run or exert the same amount of speed you would running, you burn more calories and put in more effort while simultaneously controlling your body temperature to work longer and harder due to the water around you. And frankly, if you have seen the swimmers, they seem more ripped and stronger along with being skinnier than even the runners.

While there are thousands of people going through prescriptions, eating only this, not eating that, following this, calculating that, etc, there is a very simple 2 step formula to losing weight. You don’t have to pay for an expensive prescription or over the counter weight loss pill. You don’t have to count every single calorie in every bit of food you eat. You don’t have to cut out all carbs or cut out all fat. It’s fairly simple really. 1. Eat less-if you normally have two bowls for lunch, have one. You automatically cut your calories back when you eat less of the same thing, and it is naturally easier to burn off. So whether it’s having 1 less hamburger or a 6 inch sub instead of a foot long, eat less 2. Exercise-if you have trouble walking up the stairs to go to bed, we have a serious problem here. Obviously, you don’t understand the meaning of exercise. But if you exercise more, you burn more calories and therefore have the capacity to lose more weight. If you do these two very basic and simple things, you are guaranteed to lose weight. You can achieve results that you may have seen with nothing else, because surprise you’re using a diet and exercise plan that actually makes sense!

What in the world is the MUFA diet? That’s what I thought when I first saw it. It is apparently an acronym for a rather unknown diet called the Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acids diet. It has been known as a fad diet, and it generally has been featured on shows like Good Morning America, which I never watch and would explain why I’ve never heard of it before this. Either way, they rave about it, and they call it the next big trend in celebrity weight loss.
They claim that a thin body and flat belly is all about the food and attitude, period, end of story. To some degree this is true. But then they claim “Not a single crunch required.” In short, they are saying that you don’t need exercise, which is unfortunately not true, or else I would be amazingly skinny by now, unhealthily so actually. Exercise is required, though sensible eating certainly helps too. One cannot be complete without its other half.
There have been other fad diets such as the chocolate diet, which is actually based off the chocolate plant which tastes rather different than the chocolate you are used to eating, even dark chocolate at the grocery store. But they claim that you can eat five basic groups: oil, nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, and chocolate. Sorry to say. But as much as this sounds like the diet of the century, it doesn’t work the way you think. You need diet AND exercise, and it doesn’t work with the foods they are prescribing.

If you are looking for the best way to lose weight, you may have tried salads and found yourself maintaining the same weight or even gaining weight in extreme cases. This could be because the fact is that though salads are potentially healthy, many choose to load them down with salad dressings, croutons, and other things that actually undermine all your best efforts. In the meantime, they have forgotten about many of the main components of a traditional salad, the vegetables or in some cases fruits.
After all, real salads and vegetables tend to be high in fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins and minerals while being low in actual calories, which really benefits the beneficiary. However, one should be careful as too high a sudden spike in fibers can actually cause certain side effects with your digestive tract. Though temporary, they can still be annoying and inconvenient.
Different vegetables can provide different benefits, so definitely look into it. They can be high in certain elements such as phytonutrients, beta carotene, folic acid, B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin E, flavanoids, and even omega 3 fatty acids should you choose the right ones. Omega 3 fatty acids are the good fats essentially speaking that are important to any good diet. Without them, you cannot lose weight. They are generally found in salmon, but sometimes have vegetable sources as well. Overall, should you focus on the vegetables and healthy elements rather than the dressing and croutons, salads really could be healthy for you. The problem is remembering that for many.

1. I don’t have time to workout
This is the ultimate excuse. You make time to watch your favorite TV show, go out to that nice restaurant or maybe just McDonalds. You make time for the things you actually want to do. So make time to work out! You’re busy yes. But like I said you make time for the things you want to make time for. You don’ have to go to the gym and spend 2 hours on the cardio machines. Just get a fitness video or a couple weights, take a walk with your dog, it will help and it’s worth it.
2. I have to keep junk food around for my kids/boyfriend/husband/friends
Throw it away. You know they really shouldn’t be eating it either.
3. I’ve tried before and I am incapable
If you fail the first time, try try again. You have failed before either because of the wrong application or the wrong information, most likely a combination of the two. So just because Atkins didn’t work like you thought it would doesn’t mean another diet plan and reasonable exercise plan won’t.
4. I have too many social events! I can’t lose weight there!
Of course you can. Are they really going to take offense or even notice if you don’t eat that extra mini hot dog or other appetizer? Are they really going to care if you don’t partake in several drinks at the open bar? No. Nobody cares, nobody will be offended. Practice self control.
5. I travel a lot.
So you can’t eat healthy and go to a hotel gym while you’re traveling? You can’t walk around the city instead of taking a taxi everywhere you go? Fruits and veggies are available everywhere, soups are available everywhere, healthy foods in general are available everywhere, not just in your home state or city or even in just your house.
6. My friends, it’s peer pressure
Are you your friends? No. You have to communicate with them. Otherwise, how can you really expect them to know that you are dieting, know that you need extra help and support. You have to communicate.
7. I want to rebel against my family nagging me about my weight
If you lose weight, you are not doing it for them. They aren’t going to benefit. People aren’t going to look at them differently when they go out, their health is not going to improve if you lose weight, all of those things are things that you will benefit from. So stop being a rebellious teenager that really just ends up sabotaging themselves.

If you have not one, but two demons to fight, Acomplia has been marketed as the wonder prescription drug that could help you to quit smoking and lose weight or at least avoid gaining weight, at the same time. Sanofi Aventis, a company responsible for drugs such as Ambien and Allegra, has also produced this product. By no means have they claimed to melt away the pounds without work from you. But then again, even with anti smoking patches or pills, you could technically smoke anyway. It takes some will power and work on your part no matter what.
But you may wonder, if this drug comes from such a great company and it has been proven, as we would assume prescriptions would be, to promote the benefits they claim, why wouldn’t we have this wonder drug in the United States? Why wouldn’t everybody want to take it? Yes, that is a good question, especially for those who believe mainly in FDA approved options or essentially prescriptions. After all, you have your doctor to watch over possible interactions and other problems.
Though Rimonabant or Acomplia claims to reduce appetite, and control weight, metabolism, and energy use, the studies haven’t actually supported magnanimous claims. If anything, it was shown to have a greater effect on smoking, if any effect at all in either case. It was supposed to work by targeting the brain’s mechanisms of addiction.
Acomplia was first introduced in the UK, and it was extremely popular in that area. However, at some point, Sanofi Aventis found themselves still waiting for the American FDA’s approval on this particular drug. At least one researcher, Dr Charles O’Brien, an addiction expert at the University of Pennsylvania, even suggested at some point that Acomplia could possibly fight addictions to harder drugs such as marijuana and cocaine.
But before they could obtain FDA approval, some rather unpleasant facts concerning Acomplia cam to light. It was even speculated that Sanofi Aventis had actually hidden these studies to keep marketing the drug. After all, there is a lot of time and money invested in the making of any prescription drug. There was at least one official report of a suicide involved with Acomplia, and many others had reported suicidal thoughts and severe depression. There were also reports of greatly increased anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks, greater susceptibility to eating disorders, and various other side effects. After some of the more severe reports, Acomplia was banned in the UK, never approved by the FDA, and subsequently discontinued by Sanofi Aventis.

Just as we have theorized that education prevents the spread of racism, sexism, and other prejudices, we are now speculating that education would actually prevent the spread of obesity. This could be partly theorized because schools are now trying to provide healthy lunches, which may be the only healthy meal that children get. But at least in recent school years, they still provide unhealthy options, which kids often choose. They are cutting costs, and have been cutting costs for years, at the student’s expense. According to the centers for Disease Control, 15% of children and adolescents now suffer from obesity, leading to the “big killers” such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Poor diet and lack of proper activity levels are now leading to 300,000 deaths a year, second only to cigarettes. It has come to the point where children may suffer a shorter lifespan than their parents rather than an increased lifespan due to greater innovations in medicine.
At this point, a Food Service Manager at each school is designated to plan the school menus, apparently based on the current USDA standards and regulations. They are charged with creating meals that are appealing to school children, in the budget, and within certain health requirements. This can as I stated before, be frustrated with a budget crunch, and it can be increasingly demanding for many. Schools are blaming it on this, but they have really been cutting budgets like this for years, for example replacing salad bars that children flocked to with prepackaged and sometimes not exactly fresh pre-packaged salads, often leading to children changing to the pizza or fry options instead.
Schools are supposed to encourage for example the eating of cauliflower, lettuce, tomatoes, fruits and vegetables in general. But at the same time, many schools are providing the options of potato chips, candy, soda, and other junk food whether through teachers or vending machines. The National School Lunch Program has now required that each lunch consist of 2 oz of protein, 1-2 servings of grain, ¾ cups of fruits and vegetables, and eight ounces of milk. This could be a hamburger with bun, oven fries, an apple sauce, and a milk. This doesn’t exactly sound like the healthy meal one might imagine.
Many are now depending on schools to educate their children in terms of what a healthy meal is through health classes and school lunches that supposedly provide a certain standard. But the fact is that parents are still largely responsible for teaching children about healthy diets, perhaps healthier diets than they had as children, and schools aren’t necessarily providing healthy meals, just those that meet a certain standard set apart.

Can soy based foods help you to lose more weight? Multiple studies have been conducted on soybeans in relation to weight loss, and they have also evaluated the effect of soy consumption on other areas of health and wellness. If you are looking for soy foods, you can buy things like soy milk, soy burgers, edamame(and there are quite a few brands of all of these), soy creamer, soy ice cream, etc. They tend to be high in protein, iron, omega-3, calcium, magnesium, selenium, phosphorus, and copper. The best known soy product is tofu. Tofu is a spongy brick which can resemble a block of cheese. The difference is it has no real flavor of its own, instead taking on the flavors of whatever you combine it with. Tofu can be traced back 2000 years ago to China.
Researchers have now shown that there is a definite relationship between your soy intake and LDL cholesterol levels. When eaten on a daily basis, soy can reduce LDL by up to 40 percent, which means getting rid of bad cholesterol. This means that you reduce your risk of athersclerosis, heart attack, blood clots, stroke, high blood pressure, etc. Some studies have shown men consuming large amounts of soy to have a lower semen count, but it was still in what was considered to be a normal range.
Another study found in the National Institute of Health suggests that eating soy based foods can reduce the problems associated with menopause and benefit the body during that time. It can ease menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, estrogen fluctuations, dry skin, etc.
The results in terms of weight loss are uncertain. Tofu has as much protein as meat without all the fat and calories, which can improve your intake when compared to meat. But in terms of weight loss promotion, it is thought to have all the benefits of skim milk. So while you should definitely use soy as part of a healthy diet, it wouldn’t be a wise decision to think of it as a panacea of weight loss as some have come to.
