How To Save Money On Advertising

Monday, October 19th, 2009

In trying to grow a small business, I was always looking for tips on how to save money on advertising. You of course want to advertise, because otherwise how are you really going to attract substantial numbers of repeat and new customers for that point. But realistically speaking, things like Google ads can be expensive, and sometimes they don’t even do that great a job in the first place. You have to of course consider your website and all of that, make sure it’s attracting people. But advertising methods are big.

One thing that I found worked very well was direct mail lists. It sounds crazy at first. When I first heard about it, my first thought was spam mail, I hate spam mail, even when it’s something I might actually want, and I regard most companies who do it as scams. But I’m a bit overly paranoid to say the least. So to say the least, I’m unusual.

But this being said, direct mail lists work or they wouldn’t continue to use them. I mean I’ve seen companies who use no other method of advertisement but direct mail lists as it turns out, and yet they are some of the most successful companies in their field. It seems controversial in some ways. But it’s really up to you if you run your company reputably or not, no matter your methods of advertisement.

But in truth, direct mail lists are targeted if you go through the right companies. They provide you with an extremely powerful method of advertising, and they are completely worth it. I used direct mail lists for about 1 week before I saw my business basically double, which is ridiculous. I sent out a lot of emails, and I’m not sure what the success margin was as far as percentages. But even a small percentage when you get that wide a range of people is substantial.
